Home Alone - How To Wrap Up a Fifth Step

Step We Are On: Five

Page: 75

Chapter: 6 “Into Action”

Subject: Discussing ourselves with another person

Good morning. The co-authors are detailing what is to happen immediately after the “another human being” portion of the Fifth Step has been facilitated. This is during the one hour of quiet time alone, at home”

 (Page 75 - continued)

Comment:  The following “asking”  is what some folks like to refer to as the “Fifth Step Prayer” – after all, that’s all a prayer is. Asking. It is a request.

  • Why do we thank God?

We thank God from the bottom of our heart that we know Him better.

We may have "known" Him before. But now knowing has improved. We and God are coming closer to each other. People who have searched out and faced their past errors, admitting them openly are becoming God-conscious, knowing Him better than they did before they ever did those things.

  • What do we do then?

Taking this book down from our shelf
Note: Since you need a Big Book for this, the action (with the book) was not done prior to the publication of the book, and yet it is in the instructions. We cannot conclude this means that a ‘review’ of “what we have done” was NOT actually done by the original co-founders—only that the use of the book was later added. So use the book anyway. You will find it as helpful as they apparently saw it would be.

  •  We turn to what page?

we turn to the page which contains the twelve steps.

That would be page 59

  • What do we do then?
Carefully reading the first five proposals

Proposals, Steps, Suggestions . . . three words, each one synonymic, and, as used in this book, are interchangeable (by 1938 standard of usage) – so we give a careful and “general consideration,” or “review” of the first Five of the Twelve Steps.

(or “proposals”, or “suggestions” – whichever!)

  • What do we ask for?
we ask if we have omitted anything,

Peace and Love,
