Time To Cleanup The Damage

Read Time: 60 seconds

First, what is an "amends.”

So amends is not the "reparation" itself . . . but an "amend" 'effects' repairs by changing for the better, improving.

Can you see the difference?
  • What do we now do?
  • Why do we go to see our family, friends, and neighbors?  (The HOW)
  • What do we really try to do?  (The WHAT)
Step We Are On: Nine

Chapter: 6 “Into Action”

Subject: Amends

Page 76 - continued

We are on Page 76 and we are covering 'amends'.

Amend - to change for the better, 2, to change or alter, formally or with authority, to improve, become better in conduct or ways. ~ The Winston Simplified Dictionary Encyclopedic Edition (1938)

(No. Not “Living amends.” Amends in this book are "Direct", meaning straightforward and unambiguous)

We subjected ourselves to a drastic self-appraisal.

Now we go out to our fellows and repair the damage done in the past.

 This is PROACTIVE!

We attempt to sweep away the debris which has accumulated out of our effort to live on self-will and run the show ourselves.

If we haven't the will to do this, we ask until it comes.
What should we remember?  (The WHY)

Remember it was agreed at the beginning we would go to any lengths for victory over alcohol.
