Page 34 - More About Alcoholism

Chapter: Three

Page: 34

Step we are on: Step One

Subject: Powerlessness, Just Don't Drink

Good morning. I hope everyone had a great weekend.

  • What is the baffling feature of chronic alcoholism?

This is the baffling feature of alcoholism as we know it - this utter inability to leave it alone,

  • No matter what?
no matter how great the necessity or the wish.

This, of course, is another way of stating the second half of Step One.

TOMORROW:

  • How then shall we help our readers determine, to their own satisfaction, whether they are one of us?
  • What will be helpful?
  • Do we think we can do better than that in helping the readers of this book determine if they are chronic alcoholics?
  • What will we describe?

What REALLY baffling is how folks who say their solution to the alcoholism problem is "Just don't drink" still manage to believe that they qualify as members of AA and to advise newcomer, real alcoholics about how to stop drinking. Now THAT is baffling!

Peace and Love,

Danny S - RLRA
