Life On God's Terms Is Not TOO Hard

"We have no monopoly on God; we
merely have an approach that worked with us"

Step we are on: Step Two

Chapter: "We Agnostics"

Subject: Belief, Willingness

Good morning. The co-founders have already told us that the  “purpose of this book” is to answer the questions of  how and where to find God.

Today we continue to hear what the co-founders experienced when they sought the answers to those specific questions.

  • What two things will we possess as soon as we are able to admit there just might be a Higher Power?

As soon as we admitted the possible existence of a Creative Intelligence, a Spirit of the Universe underlying the totality of things, we began to be possessed of a new sense of power and direction,

Just admitting the possibility that we are not alone that an intelligent spirit might underlay all, opens the door and is the Step Two experience of faith.  (This is a precursor to a definite belief in the existence of  God, as what happened to Bill W with Ebby T in Brooklyn - as we shall see) But we cannot stop there. It is only a beginning.

  • Provided we do what?
provided we took other simple steps.

Comment:  What are these other simple steps we must take?

  • Does God make it difficult to live on God's terms?
We found that God does not make too hard terms

Hard. Just not too hardCertainly not easy.

  • Are these 'not too hard" terms extended to everyone?
with those who seek Him.

We sometimes hear of living "life on life's terms". Clearly, this is NOT one of the Principles these co-authors embraced as they speak of living life on God's terms - conditions which are hard but not too hard for a seeker.

Question: Would those who do not seek Him get the same "not too hard" terms?

  • Did they believe spirituality is open to everyone?
To us, the Realm of Spirit is broad, roomy, all inclusive; never exclusive or forbidding

  • To whom specifically this "Realm" inclusive?
to those who earnestly seek.
Realm - a kingdom, an empire
~ The Winston Simplified Dictionary – 1938
  • Who may benefit from it?
It is open, we believe, to all men.

We will also encounter this idea of universal access to God when we cover Step Twelve,  “We have no monopoly on God; we merely have an approach that worked with us”. (95:3)

Tomorrow
  • When we speak of God, what do we mean?
  • How about other spiritual ideas in this Book?
  • What should we not do?
  • At the start, what else do we need?
  • What will happen later?

Peace and  Love,
