Step we are on: Step Two
Chapter: "We Agnostics"
Subject: Faith, Intellect, Doubt, Logic
Good morning. We are seeing what the Big Book co-authors thought about the power of human reasoning.
We already know that they have greatly devalued the kind of importance many that of us place on the power of reasoning and logic's role in entirely explaining our problems - but do they mean to discredit thinking altogether?
- What made it possible for the Wright brothers to be successful?
The Wright brothers' almost childish faith that they could build a machine which would fly was the main- spring of their accomplishment.
- What would have happened without it?
Without that, nothing could have happened.
- What were the agnostics and atheists doing?
We agnostics and atheists were sticking to the idea that self-sufficiency would solve our problems.
- What did the recovered alcoholics show everyone?
When others showed us that "God-sufficiency" worked with them, we began to feel like those who had insisted the Wrights would never fly.

- Is logic useless?
Logic is great stuff.
- How do we feel about logic? Two sentences
We liked it. We still like it."Don't think - don't drink" doesn't apply . . . BUT . . . .. . (tomorrow)
TOMORROW
- What have we been given?
- Is it an asset or a liability?
- What would an agnostic not be satisfied with?
- What do we have difficulty in telling?
- As hopeless alcoholics, what proposition must we face?
Peace and Love,
