Chapter: 5 "How It Works"

Subject: Resentment Inventory, Fear, Self reliance, Trust

Good morning. We are going through the columns of the 4th step directions. We are looking at fear and learning how disastrous it is to rely upon one’s self.

  • In Whom do men with faith place their trust?
They trust their God

  • When do we apologize for our dependence upon God?
We never apologize for God.

  • What do we let Him do?
Instead we let Him demonstrate, through us, what He can do.

Comment:  The following is the Fourth Step “Fear Prayer”.

  • Do we force our fears away and try to do what we think God’s will is?
We ask Him to remove our fear and direct our attention to what He would have us be.

"God, direct my attention to what You would have me be - not what I would have me be."

We don’t install our own courage We rely upon God for it. That is called faith.

  • What are we promised will, at once, begin to happen?
At once, we commence to outgrow fear.

"At once" means immediately. Fear begins to diminish from this point onward and continues to lessen until it is no more. It takes mere hours/days at most, for those who truly turn life and will over to God.
Comment:  Now for the third part of our Inventory. Sexual misconduct is another manifestation of our character defects.
